Stand Up For Our Kids.
Every 2 minutes, a child is diagnosed with cancer.
For those kids who do survive…
They are twice as likely to die of other health problems.
They are 7 x times more likely to die of heart problems.
They are 15 x times more likely to die of new cancers later in life.
Why? Because we’re treating our kids with adult treatments.
We need kid friendly cures to treat childhood cancer!
In April 2013, Declan was diagnosed with stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma after experiencing severe stomach pain. He was just 3 years old.
When diagnosed, little Declan faced aggressive treatment immediately. Over 14 months, this brave little guy endured 5 rounds of chemotherapy, surgery, stem cell transplant, radiotherapy and immunotherapy. After 14 months of intensive treatment and nights in hospital, Declan was finally declared to be in remission.
But his battle was not over yet.
In January 2015, doctors told his parents, Kim and Simon, that his cancer had returned. Their little boy was given just 6 months to live.
His parents never gave up trying to save their son. They learned about a clinical trial that would allow Declan to spend more time with his family than they’d ever hoped.
However, after 12 months of treatment, there was nothing else they could do. Declan sadly passed away, aged 8, in May 2017.
